ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Andrew Russell has been a law enforcement officer for over 30 years and a firearms instructor since 1995. Andrew is currently a Special Agent with the Ohio Attorney General’s BCI. Prior to this Andrew was a training officer for the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA) teaching firearms and tactics. As a full-time training officer Andrew was able to develop and implement many specialized courses and developed the 2020 mandatory precision rifle qualification and course of fire target system.
Andrew was the lead developer and primary instructor for: SWAT-basic & advanced, single officer response to an active threat- instructor (SORAT-I), mobile active threat-instructor (MATR-I), close quarters subject control for tactical operations-instructor (CQSCTO-I), select-fire weapons instructor, and precision rifle-operator. Andrew also taught judgmental firearms, advanced building clearing, executive protection, counter-ambush, working with and in vehicles, officer down tactics and as a scenario-based training instructor.
Andrew is a combat veteran, serving as a Military Police Officer assigned to a full time SRT and part time close protection team working in and around Central America during the 1989 invasion of Panama (Operation Just Cause).
Andrew is a 13th Degree Blackbelt in Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu and studies combative martial arts, making frequent trips to study in Japan with his teachers. Andrew runs the Fairfield County Bujinkan Dojo in central Ohio.
